The ceremony of “China-Africa Friendship Award-Top 10 Chinese Enterprises in Africa” was hosted by China-African People Friendship Association (CAPFA) together with China Radio International (CRI) in Beijing at 21st December 2010. Mr. Lu Chunming, the general manager representing Beijing Holley-Cotec Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (HolleyCotec) presented to the event and addressed for the honor.
The award ceremony has been conducted in the Great Hall of People. MR.Abulahat.Abdurixit, the Chairman of CAPFA, granted honor to the nominated companies which includes HolleyCotec.
Mr. Lu says that “Even though our corporate size is small, HolleyCotec has been treated over 20 million malaria patients in Africa and we will surely provide consistent effort for African people.” The ten awarded enterprises made promise to develop together with African economy and people. Meanwhile, a new foundation, the Charity Fund of Chinese Enterprise to Africa, has been established by participating companies. The initial size would be 5 million RMB.
HolleyCotec is the only private company awarded by the event and the rest enterprises are: China Nonferrous Metal Mining, China Gezhouba Corporation, China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC), Tat International Holdings Group, China National Machinery Equipment Import and Export Corporation，China Water Resources and Hydropower Construction Group Corporation, China Railway Group Limited, Haier Group, and Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Group Co., Ltd.
The "China-Africa Friendship Award" was initiated by CAPFA in 2006, with the purpose to inspire enterprises and individuals to contribute to Sino-Africa relations. In order to further improve its development, CAPFA cooperates with CRI in 2010 to conduct a program with focus on companies who has been participating in African development. Ten final award winners would be voted out from candidates via public nomination, experts assessment and direct online voting system. Those companies should have been showing great commitments to local economy, excellent social responsibility and providing continual assistance to the local community.
